In shortMoviQ is a search engine for independent Italian car rental companies. You search for a car, you book it, the rental company confirms, you pick it up at the indicated point and pay them directly. There is no financial intermediary between you and the rental company.1 · SearchEnter the city where you need the car and the pickup and return dates. MoviQ shows you all the available cars from rental companies in the area — not just the big brands, but also neighbourhood garages and small independent fleets you wouldn't otherwise find.The price you see on the card is the total price for the period you indicated. No surprise surcharges: taxes, included mileage, mandatory insurance and the service fee are already counted. The deposit, where required, is shown separately.2 · CompareFilter by category (city car, SUV, electric, van, convertible, long-term), fuel type (petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric), price range, transmission (manual/automatic). Sort by price, distance from your address, or most-viewed cars.Open a car's listing to see: photos and description, included mileage, any optional extras (child seat, GPS, additional driver), the individual rental company's terms, the payment methods it accepts (card, bank transfer, cash within legal limits), its reviews and its average response times.3 · BookPress "Request booking". If it's your first time using MoviQ we ask for your email, name and phone number — just these three details. You'll receive a confirmation email with a magic link to sign in (no password to remember).Your request is forwarded to the rental company, which has 24 hours to confirm or decline. Most rental companies respond within 2 hours on weekdays. You'll get a notification by email and push as soon as the status changes.At this stage you don't pay anything. Your card is not charged, there is no pre-authorisation hold. The booking is a request, not a purchase.4 · Pick up the carAt the agreed time, show up at the pickup point indicated on the booking page — it's the address of the rental company's premises. Bring with you:
  • A valid ID document.
  • A driving licence valid for the vehicle category (category B for cars, ≥ 21 years old and a licence held for at least 1 year for most rental companies).
  • A credit card in the driver's name for the deposit (if the rental company requires it on card) — or cash or bank transfer if accepted.
The rental company checks the documents, has you sign the rental contract (paper or digital, up to them), collects the agreed price and any deposit, hands you the keys and walks you through the car handover (fuel, pre-existing damage, mileage). Average pickup time: 15-25 minutes.5 · DriveYou've got the car, it's yours for the agreed period. The terms of use (mileage, permitted geographic area, no animals or smoking, etc.) are those of the rental company's contract — read them before signing.If problems arise during the rental (breakdown, accident, fine) your first point of contact is always the rental company — you'll find its direct number on the booking page on MoviQ. For additional assistance, MoviQ can be reached at support@moviq.it.6 · ReturnReturn the car to the same point, at the agreed time, with the fuel level required by the contract (usually the same as at pickup). The rental company checks the car, mileage and fuel, and returns the deposit if everything is in order.Within 48 hours of the return you'll receive an email to leave a review of the rental company. Reviews are public and help those who book after you.CancellationYou can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the pickup time from your "Bookings" page or by clicking the cancellation link in the confirmation email. You don't need to give a reason.For cancellations beyond this threshold the individual rental company's policies apply, shown on the car's listing at the time of booking and recalled in the confirmation email. The most common policies are: 50% retention for cancellations between 24h and 6h before pickup, 100% retention for no-shows or cancellations less than 6h before.Changing your bookingTo change dates, duration or car, contact the rental company directly (number on the listing) or write to support@moviq.it indicating the booking number. Changes are subject to vehicle availability.MoviQ's roleMoviQ is exclusively an informational intermediation service: we help you find the car and send the request to the rental company. The rental contract, payment, terms, deposit, insurance, assistance during the rental, and the handling of damage or accidents are entirely the responsibility of the rental company. MoviQ is not a party to the contract and is not liable for the contractual obligations between you and the rental company.Frequently asked questionsWho pays in case of damage or an accident?The relationship is exclusively between you and the rental company. Coverage (mandatory liability, any excess, optional collision damage waiver) and accident-handling procedures are those set out in the individual rental company's contract. MoviQ does not intervene in the handling of accidents, damage or disputes connected to the use of the vehicle.How old do you have to be to rent?It depends on the rental company. Most require ≥ 21 years old and a category B licence held for at least 1 year. For premium cars and large SUVs, some require ≥ 25 years old. The specific requirement is shown on the car's listing.Can I rent for another driver?Yes, but the second driver must be declared to the rental company (usually with a small surcharge) and must show up at pickup with ID and licence.What happens if the rental company doesn't respond within 24h?The request lapses automatically, with no charge. You can send a new request to other rental companies in the area using the search. MoviQ does not guarantee a response from rental companies, which remain free to accept or decline any request.
