Cars sit idle 95% of the timeEvery car in Italy is parked 23 hours out of 24. It costs thousands of euros a year in road tax, insurance, maintenance and depreciation. And yet we register more than a million and a half new ones every year.When we really need a car — for a weekend, a house move, a six-month work assignment — we go to an international-brand rental desk, travel all the way to the airport, and pay surcharges we hadn't planned for. Or we just give up.Car rental isn't just Hertz, Avis or EuropcarIn Italy there are thousands of small independent rental companies: garages, dealerships, local agencies. They know their customers by name. They have been renting cars for decades. They offer lower prices and a flexibility the big chains simply can't match.But online they are invisible. They don't have a modern website, they don't know how to do SEO, they have no marketing team. And so customers keep believing that car rental means just four brands.MoviQ is an aggregator, not a middlemanYou find the car on MoviQ. The rental company confirms availability. Payment happens directly between you and them — at pickup, the way it has always been done.We don't get in the middle, we don't take commissions on the price of the car, we don't hold money on your account. The contract is between you and the rental company, exactly as if you had found them down the street.Three principles
  • Proximity — the right car is the one near your home, not 30 km away at the airport. The search defaults to your neighbourhood, not the vehicle category.
  • Transparency — no surprise surcharges at pickup. The price you see on the listing is the price you pay. Deposit, insurance and included mileage: all written down up front.
  • Independence — rental companies stay in control of their prices, their terms and their customers. We don't impose commercial policies, we don't block reviews, we don't penalise those who don't pay for premium subscriptions.
What we DON'T do
  • We don't own cars.
  • We don't manage deposits or insurance on behalf of the rental companies.
  • We don't sell your data to third parties and we don't do advertising tracking.
  • We don't use dark patterns to squeeze upsells out of you at checkout.
  • We don't penalise rental companies that give you their direct phone number.
Where we come fromMoviQ was born in Italy, in 2026, out of a small and independent team. We fund ourselves through a monthly subscription for rental companies that want to be listed — not through commissions on customers, not through third-party advertising.We want to build digital infrastructure for a sector that has existed for decades but has stayed off the grid. Nothing more, nothing less.Where we're goingThere needs to be a bridge between those who own a car and rent it out every day, and those who just need a car for a week. We want to be that bridge — clean, lightweight, made in Italy.
